This pattern is explained for working in the round and includes adjustments for working flat. A video tutorial is available for further guidance.

In the Round:

Color 1

Row 1:

• Start with chains or a foundation stitch (as shown in the video). The length depends on your project, ensuring it’s an even number.

• Example: Ch 60, ss into the first ch (ensure chains aren’t twisted), dc into each ch around for a total of 60 dc’s. Ss into the first dc.

• Alternatively, foundation dc 60 times and ss to join the first dc, ensuring the dc’s aren’t twisted.

Row 2:

• Ch 1, Fpdc in each st around (60 total), ss to join.

Fpdc: Yo, insert hook around the post of the st from the previous row (not the top). Insert your hook under the horizontal connection in the middle of the st, between the first and second sts of Row 1. Yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops. Drop Color 1 and grab Color 2. Pull a loop from Color 2 through the last 2 loops on your hook.

• Continue alternating colors every st, ensuring proper tension (refer to the video for tips).

Repeat Row 2 until the project reaches the desired height.

Note: Crochet over the color you’re not using.

Flat (Not in the Round):

Row 1:

• Work Row 1 the same as above, but don’t ss to join. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2:

• Fpdc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 3:

• Work Bpdc across instead of Fpdc, ch 1, turn.

Bpdc: Yo, insert your hook from the back to the front around the post of the st, yo, pull through 2 loops. Drop the current color and pick up the second color, yo, pull through the last 2 loops.

Continue alternating between Fpdc and Bpdc rows until the project reaches the desired height.
