Updated: Sep 20

Reversible Half Striped Headband Pattern

Supplies:

• 2 colors of worsted weight (4) yarn

• 5mm crochet hook

• Darning needle

• Scissors

• Measuring tape

Stitches Used:

Ch - Chain

SC - Single Crochet

HDC - Half Double Crochet

DC - Double Crochet

FPSC - Front Post Single Crochet

FPHDC - Front Post Half Double Crochet

FPDC - Front Post Double Crochet

BPDC - Back Post Double Crochet

STDC - Standing Double Crochet

Pro Tips:

1. On color changes, make sure your dropped color goes to the wrong side. For even-numbered rows, drop the yarn to the back as you work. For odd-numbered rows, pull the dropped yarn to the front as you work.

2. Watch your tension carefully to avoid working too tightly. Keep your stitches even.

3. Stretch your work as you go to easily work your stitches and prevent curling.

Color Change Tip:

How to DC with a color change:

• Work a DC as normal until you have two loops remaining on your hook. Drop your working yarn, pick up the next color, and pull through the last two loops to complete the stitch.

How this looks:

Color 1: Yarn Over,

Pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops,

drop color 1, yarn over with color 2, pull through 2 loops.

Repeat next stitch with color 2.

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1 (Color A):

• Start with a foundation row of 62 SC or chain 63 and work 62 SC across. Turn.

Row 2 (Right Side):

• DC in the first 31 stitches.

(1 DC finishing with Color B, 1 DC finishing with Color A) repeat x15.

• DC in the last stitch. Turn.

Row 3 (Wrong Side):

(1 BPDC finishing with Color A, 1 BPDC finishing with Color B) repeat x14.

• Work 1 BPDC finishing with Color A, 1 BPDC.

Row 4:

• DC in the first stitch.

• BPDC across the next 30 stitches.

(1 FPDC finishing with Color B, 1 FPDC finishing with Color A) repeat x15.

• DC in the last stitch. Turn.

Row 5-9:

• Repeat Rows 3 and 4 alternately, ending on a repeat of Row 3.

Row 10:

• Ch 1.

• Work 31 HDC.

• FPHDC across the next 30 stitches.

• Work 1 HDC in the last stitch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing:

• Lay your project right side up and fold it in half.

Optional: If you use the mattress stitch to close, your headband will be reversible.

• Sew the two ends together and weave in all ends. Turn the headband right side out, and voilà!
