Easy Crochet Candy Cane Pattern

Abbreviations (US Terms):

CH: Chain

HDC INC: Half Double Crochet Increase (make 2 half double crochets in the same stitch or chain)

SK: Skip Stitch

ST: Stitch

Materials Needed:

• Two colors of yarn for the stripes

• Crochet hook (size depending on yarn; refer to yarn label for suggestion. If you don’t have the exact hook size, choose a smaller size rather than larger)

• Scissors

• Yarn needle

Pro Tip: Use a wire inside the candy cane for a more durable shape.

Pattern:

With Color 1:

1. Chain 21.

2. Skip the first chain, then make an HDC INC in the second stitch.

3. HDC INC in each of the next 19 chains (until the last chain).

With Color 2:

1. Repeat the same steps as for Color 1.

Assembly:

• After completing both colors, you should have two spirals. Bring the ends of each spiral together.

• Wrap the spirals around each other to form a cane shape.

• Secure the ends by weaving the chains of both colors together.

If using a wire, wrap the spirals around the wire in the middle for added stability.

Final Touches:

• Hang your candy cane on the tree or lay it down, shaping the top into a curve.
